I knew that one day I would eventually get around to creating a podcast. It’s the first step toward getting my TV show out of the notebook and into something real. But that’ll be done another day. Right now, podcast.  Why now? I had a close encounter with a seemingly closed mind on twitter.  Someone I had thought was level headed, fair, balanced and all that.

Someone whom I now see as perhaps overly sensitive, quick to judge and possibly paranoid.

I wonder ((?)) what would she think of Alyssa Milano’s “Evolution” video posted on my tumblr at http://dave-lucas.tumblr.com/

iAuthor Tom Hobbs ‏@Kindlemojo has written an e-book he often promotes with the tweet “The Novel that proves: You can’t cure stupid!”

Perhaps that’s applicable here.

It all started with a pop music video.

Below you’ll find the link to my podcast which details the events and my stance.

UPDATE January 6, 2016 ::: Just got this email —> “Since you are on the FREE Buzzsprout plan, episodes older than 90 days will be deleted. The following episodes are scheduled for deletion before the end of your current cycle on February 5th.” So if it is past that date and you are reading this, you’re out of luck. If I re-post the podcast elsewhere, I’ll link to it here.

“Bitcoin self- regulates the production of money and clearing of
transactions that have traditionally been handled by banks and
monopolistic payment systems. As an encryption-based currency, Bitcoin
enables the secure transfer of value as content through almost any
network directly from sender to receiver without counter-party risk. Its
global autonomous network disrupts the old hierarchical financial
institutions and rebels against central authority, potentially rendering
the archaic payment systems irrelevant.” ~ Nozomi Hayase

How Bitcoin Will End World Poverty{Video} William Blair partner Brian Singer explains how Bitcoin and blockchain encryption has a greater ability to bring more of the world’s population out of poverty than anything we’ve seen in decades. Those of you with slow or dialup connections here is a TRANSCRIPT.

On the NASDAQ blog, Martin Tiller ponders whether Bitcoin could destroy the Global Banking System… Here’s a snippet:

What has the industry worried is not so much Bitcoin as the blockchain. Banks are so used to taking a cut every time money changes hands that they cannot imagine life without that particular revenue stream. Here’s a LINK to the full article.  Here is a PRINTABLE version.

As I was going through the latest issue of Dabiq, I was moved by journalist John Cantlie‘s article “Hard Talk: The Real Story Behind My Videos.” Many will dismiss it as propaganda, but I would bet if you read it, you would, as I did, detect the truths presented.

Colleague Cantile, who has gone from wearing black to orange, telegraphs the message ISIS is willing to negotiate with the U.S. and could have done so. The group is all too well aware of the swap of 5 high level imprisoned terrorists for army deserter Bo Bergdahl. In Dabiq #4 there are other articles which also seem to reach out to the U.S. in a “Let’s Talk” stance.

“…you need to appreciate the
story behind the scenes.”
John Cantlie

Take  a walk through the pages of Dabiq, then read this interesting take on the new ISIS currency (keep an open mind!)

“Beware of the misinformation by main and alternative news sources, my friends. I would suggest you do as I do, go take the time to listen to the unfiltered speeches of people. YouTube provides them. Next time, dip into the first source and not third or forth hand sources.”

~ John Hogue, commenting on remarks the press attributed to Vladimir Putin

It has been imagined and presented many times in different ways via various scenarios storied in books, movies and tv, how modern American society would fare during a loss of government; during a breakdown of law and order.

There are some very intelligent people who can’t wait for Barack Obama to leave office. They fear the U.S. President is in fact a ‘trojan horse’ and that any given morning the nation might wake up to a dictatorship. That kind of thought is just a little over the top. Radical talk-show rhetoric distracting reasonable thinkers from drawing more logical conclusions. There are much graver things to be concerned about.

Take a closer look at ISIS, divorcing that look from anything you’ve recently seen or heard, pro and con.

The group originated as Jama’at al-Tawhid wal-Jihad in 1999, which became Tanzim Qaidat al-Jihad fi Bilad al-Rafidayn—commonly known as Al-Qaeda in Iraq (AQI)—in 2004. Following the 2003 invasion of Iraq, AQI took part in the Iraqi insurgency. In 2006, it joined other Sunni insurgent groups to form the Mujahideen Shura Council, which consolidated further into the Islamic State of Iraq (ISI) shortly afterwards. ISI gained a significant presence in Al Anbar, Nineveh, Kirkuk and other areas, but around 2008, its violent methods, including suicide attacks on civilian targets and the widespread killing of prisoners, led to a backlash from Sunni Iraqis and other insurgent groups.

In April 2013, the group changed its name to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL /ˈaɪsəl/), also translated as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS /ˈaɪsɪs/), also known by the Arabic acronym Daʿish and self-proclaimed as the Islamic State (IS), is a Sunni jihadist rebel group controlling territory in Iraq, Syria, eastern Libya and the Sinai Peninsula of Egypt.

In June 2014, ISIS announced the creation of a caliphate (Islamic state) that erases all state borders, making it the self-declared authority over the world’s estimated 1.5 billion Muslims

OK, cancel that divorce. But you still don’t know ISIS… (read More)

By whatever name  – it all starts with a single step…

Ceylan Ozbudak of A9tv has written a thought-provoking article every Muslim, Christian, Jew and athiest should read: it cuts to the heart of an ages-old problem that has plagued humanity.

If the soil of a small village is poisoned and the poison becomes contagious once it enters the human body, there is no way to save the population unless we find the antidote for that poison. We can quarantine the sick or burn all the fields we want, but one child playing in a field would be enough to revive the outbreak and contaminate the whole village. We can try to bomb the field but the airborne particles will simply make people sick. Terrorism, radicalism and extremism are just like this poison…   continue reading “An antidote for ISIS’s poisonous narrative”

The adhan, or Islamic call to prayer, is an integral part of the Muslim faith. How about this: we embellish tradition. Let’s issue a call to peace. Islamic creationist Adnan Oktar [Harun Yahya] points out all too clearly that “we are in the age of communication” and it is time to heal old wounds.

This is no time in history for the callous among us. We see Mr. Putin, the Russian leader, responding to events happening in America as well as executing paralell moves to those initiated by President Obama. Many have likened actions by the two world powers in recent days to “a game of chess.” In chess, you win or lose, pick up your pieces and go home. In the real world, the consequences are more dire. Just like that meteor that appeared in the Russian sky a year or so ago, things can happen quickly, without warning, without giving people time to prepare. And sometimes, as in the case of Typhoon Yolanda, there is warning and some preparation, which in the end was overwhelmed by a storm bigger than anyone could have imagined.

A call to peace can only be rung by men and women posessing the spirit of life and love. On the christian side we have Pope Francis, who literally hit the ground running, turning the stodgy Roman Catholic church on it’s ear. The emergence now of an equally great Islamic leader would change perceptions and foster understanding.

There are bright spots of hope: in recent days a new Muslim-American group based in Detroit launched a social media campaign urging Arabs not use arabic racial slurs against African Americans.

In his book “Islam Without Extremes,” Mustafa Akyol makes a compelling case for liberalization within Islam today. He notes “times have changed dramatically” as the world becomes “more open, transparent, individualistic, and – obviously – globalized.” Not everyone has seen such light.

Adnan Oktar points out that “the morality of the Qur’an encourages science and research, praises art and beauty, encourages wider roles for women in administration, leads the way to free thinking, frees people from the pressure they are suffering from.” And most noteworthy “everyone is entitled to a great life” and effectively the doorway leading to life’s wonderful things is open to all… so why aren’t more people coming in out of the cold of their backdated and tribal ways?

I am reminded of a passage in the Qu’ran: “Have they not seen that We drive the water to a barren land, then We bring forth thereby crops, of which their cattle and they themselves eat, will they not then see?”

What does it take to drive truth to barren hearts? I wonder…
